Payment links

Accept payments through a link that you share with customers.

Payment links are a flexible way to accept payments from your customers. They require minimal integration, as provider selection and authorisation are included in each link.

Payment links offer 99% coverage across the UK, and 96% coverage across key European markets (Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Finland). However, the checkout page for payment links is currently only available in English.

Benefits of payment links

Payment links offer a range of benefits, such as:

  • They support payments through various channels such as SMS, email, web, or social.
  • They don't require complicated integration.
  • They can improve conversion by providing a simple payment flow.

Payment links are ideal for a range of payment scenarios. For example: invoicing, payments for in-person services, deposits or instalment payments, or payments during a chat or helpline conversation.

The payment link user flow is similar to the hosted payment page. However, the payment link flow also contains a checkout screen that shows what the user is paying for. With other payment integration methods, you have to develop a checkout screen yourself.

Additionally, payment links are less time-bound than hosted payment page links. A hosted payment page link expires after 15 minutes. You can configure a payment link to last far longer, with an expiration time you choose.

When a customer clicks a payment link, they are taken to a checkout page where they can review their purchase. When they choose to proceed with the payment, a single payment is created.

You create and configure payment links through POST requests to the /v3/payment-links endpoint. Payment link configuration shares similarities with single payments, but you also provide itemised information about what's being purchased.
